I'd like to request that San Anselmo update its reach code for remodels to require climate-friendly measures starting at 500 sq ft, vs the current 750 sq ft. Projects would need to meet a target energy score using a flexible point system that supports both energy efficiency and electrification. This aligns with San Rafael and Larkspur simplifying compliance for builders across jurisdictions and supporting the intent of AB 130 to streamline building codes. Thank you for your consideration!

We respectfully request that San Anselmo update its reach code for remodels to require climate-friendly measures starting at 500 sq ft, instead of the current 750 sq ft threshold.
The state closes the door on adoption of a new reach code until 2031 on September 30, 2025.
We strongly recommend adopting this additional measure before this date.

AB 130 creates a 9/30/25 deadline for local jurisdictions to adopt reach codes. This freeze would be in effect until 2034.
In response San Rafael unanimously adopted California 2025 building codes and 2025 Cal Green Tier One. Staff can in the future cut what they find objectionable.
